Is it possible to determine if individuals were local or non-local using Strontium isotope ratios in teeth and environmental samples from two Avar excavation sites in Austria?
The Institute of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna, under the leadership of Stephan Hann and Anastassiya Tchaikovsky, will perform the analysis of Sr isotopes (87Sr/86Sr), from archaeological sites in Austria. For each site environmental samples (soil, water) are taken, as well as human samples (teeth). These samples are important for the following interpretation, whether individuals are autochthone or allochthone.
