HistoGenes researcher Salvatore Liccardo published an article in Early Medieval Europe investigating the Heruli, who are one of the lesser known groups from the migration period. Faced with scarce written evidence Liccardo applied HistoGenes' characteristic method of transdisciplinarity, informing about the Heruli and proposing a shift in how researchers conceptualise late antique population shifts and integration.
